Robert “Bo” James Travers passed away peacefully in his home in Vallejo, CA on February 11, 2016. Bo was born in Canton, Ohio on October 5, 1947 and was 68 years old. From 1969-1974, Bo served our nation honorably in the Vietnam War as a helicopter gunner in the Army. Similar to many soldiers in combat, his service in Vietnam not only required but made collection on a great deal of emotional and physical dues, most of which are immeasurable. Upon Bo’s returning to the states, he carried with him the memories, experiences and friends from that war, along with the clarity of mind to live each day with one goal: “LOVE and be loved.” After the war, his life changed, his methods and worldviews changed and soon after returning home he moved from Ohio out west to make a life in California.

A hard worker with a huge heart for people, Bo worked as a mechanic, carpenter, welder and truck driver. Over the past 14 years, Bo worked in medical transcription, at Cardiology of Marin and recently at Marin Medical Practice Concepts.

Loyalty, kindness and honesty were his virtues and he lived life transparent to those around him. To see his face was to see a smile. And you would not only see that smile, but Bo could make you feel it too, contagiously. A motorcycle and transportation collector and enthusiast, Bo sported a glorious beard, ponytail, leather vest and leather boots on most, if not all, occasions, along with a pair of sunglasses. A genuine man, Bo’s uniqueness and generous spirit could never fit into just one particular mold, and so it seems befitting to also mention that Bo had an uncanny skill and love for gardening. He also enjoyed taking trips of interest along the 420 hwy route known for its adventurous paths and majestic panoramic views.

Bo is survived by his mother, Gloria Travers of Berlin, Ohio. A sister and brother in law, Bernie & Kathy Torrence of Berlin, Ohio. A brother and sister in law, Danny & Cindy Travers of Sarasota, Florida. His father, Leland J Travers passed away in 1972 and an older brother Chip Travers passed away in 1997. He has 3 lovely daughters Rachel Vincent Travers, Dani Vincent Travers, and Beau Vincent Travers, Sons in law Ryan Fitzgerald and Rick Springer, 9 grandchildren – Justice, Lianne, Vera, Jacob, Kyla, Wilamina, Tonie, Peter and Joseph. He has a son Randy of Canton, Ohio. We honor the large place Bo filled in our lives today. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
