Robert "Bob" George Stevens1927 - 2016Robert "Bob" George Stevens, R.Ph., 88, of Oviedo, Fla., passed away on April 29, 2016, after a long illness. Bob was born on Sept. 30, 1927, in Kenosha, Wis. He attended Wilmont High School and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1944. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Merchant Marine. Later, he also served in the U.S. Army, and in the Navy Reserve. While attending the University of WI-Madison School of Pharmacy, he met Irene Borchardt, a nursing student, at a dance at the Memorial Union. Irene and Bob became life-long dance partners. In 1954, Bob graduated from Pharmacy School. He and Irene married in July of that same year. Initially, they lived in Milwaukee and in 1958, they moved to Bob's hometown of Kenosha. They raised a family, owned, and operated Bob Stevens Pharmacy, Inc. for over 30 years. In 1991, they retired and moved to Oviedo, FL. Bob was active in the Wisconsin Pharmaceutical Society, in the Deutsch-Amerikanischer National Kongress (DANK), and in the Seminole County Democratic Party.Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Irene E. (Borchardt) Stevens, his parents, John W. Stevens, Jr. and Helen Marie (Peterson) Stevens, his brother, John H. Stevens, and his sisters, Peggy (Stevens) Briney and Mary Lou (Stevens) Kasten. Bob, beloved father and grandfather, is survived by his son Captain Rom A. Stevens, Medical Corps, US Navy (Ret.), daughter-in-law Dr. Marianne Mikat-Stevens of Indian Head Park, IL; son Matt H. Stevens, PhD and daughter-in-law Nicola (Matthews) Stevens of St. Paul, MN; and daughter Julie A. (Stevens) McLean and son-in-law Gary McLean of Geneva, FL, seven grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews. He is deeply missed by his family and friends.A memorial service will be held on May 27th at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo, 263 King St., Oviedo, FL 32765.
