Rothe, RobertRobert Frederick Rothe died at Eastbrooke Manor on January 18, 2017. The son of Lawrence and Linda (Hoppe) Rothe, he was born on April 2, 1936. A life-long Oshkosh resident, Robert attended Franklin, Grace Lutheran, South Park and Oshkosh High School, from which he graduated in 1955.A quiet, gentle man, Robert enjoyed taking and printing pictures of friends, family, and animals. He filled album after album with DNR wildlife publications, photos, greeting cards, and newspaper articles that interested him or made him chuckle. His greatest love was fishing; he took time picturing and recording details of each catch. He was preceded in death by his parents, but, as an only child and an unmarried man, his few survivors are distant cousins in Oshkosh and the Waupun area. Robert often expressed gratitude for his visitors, friends and relatives and the care and kindness of staff members at Arborview and Eastbrooke Manors. He enthusiastically participated in the Fishing Has No Boundaries program and was especially grateful for people who took him fishing, including Neil Lorge, Larry Kind and Al Sedlachek.Robert was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church at 913 Nebraska St. Oshkosh, WI 54902 where a Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 1 pm with a visitation from 12 noon until the time of service.
