VOLLMERRobert MelvinRobert Melvin Vollmer, age 84, of Toledo, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016. He was born on August 6, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio to Albert and Harriet (Gulch) Vollmer. A US Army Veteran of the Korean War, Robert was head of the Shipping Department at Doehler-Jarvis for 25 years, retiring in 1987. He also owned and operated Vollmer's Village Square Apartments for 30 years. He was a member of the Toledo Yacht Club and loved spending time on his boat, The Duchess. His summer home (Heaven) on upper Hamlin Lake in Ludington, MI, also provided much enjoyment. Robert was a jack-of-all-trades who could fix anything. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful dad and friend. Robert is survived by his daughter, Kimberly D. Vollmer; stepdaughter, Karen (Tom) Burke; stepson, Scott (Norma) Isbell; step-grandchildren, Kelley (Bryan) Acres, Tommy Burke, Joey Burke and Sarah Collins; step-great-grandchildren; and his cat, Ginger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; sister-in-law, Joanne A. Harris; and his parents. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The Funeral Service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Deacon James Dudley presiding. The Lucas County Burial Corps will conclude with Military Honors in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.Memorial donations may be given to a .
