MICKAN, RobertRobert J. "Bob" Mickan, 78, of Austin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Robert was born on August 5, 1938 in Robstown, Texas to Werner and Lula Mae Mickan. Robert grew up in Bishop, Texas and attended Bishop High School. He was active in the Future Farmers of America winning various Grand Champions for animals he raised. He also attended St. John's Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He was employed by Hygeia in Corpus Christi for many years. On August 31, 1974, he married Sandra Gail Stephens. They have two sons, Ronnie James Mickan and Ricky Dale Mickan, both from Austin. He then moved to Austin, Texas and was employed by Borden's Dairy for 31 years, retiring in 2010. Robert loved spending time with family and traveling. He and his wife, Sandra, often travelled with his brother, Richard, and his wife, Lois. He was also interested in gardening and taking care of his lawn. Robert was a caring and loving person, always there when anyone needed him. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Christopher. Robert is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandy "Honey" Mickan; 2 sons, Ronnie (Janice) and Ricky (Sherrie); brothers, Richard (Lois) and Roger (Kathi), sisters, Joyce Rice (Bob) and Judy Thomas (Jimmy); five grandchildren, Marriah Lance (Mike), Dakota Mickan, Alexandria Mickan, Jeffery Mickan (Kristi) and Travis Mickan; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Gino, Jaxon, Scarlet, McKenzie; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 9, 2016, at Harrell Funeral Home, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park, Austin, Texas.
