Robert, "Bob" Lee Scarberry, 82 of Jacksonville Florida succumbed to a tough battle with cancer, in the comfort of his family on September 19th, 2018. Bob is proceeded in death by his parents Chauncey and Neva (Leadman) Scarberry, brother Walt and sister Joann as well as several half brothers and sisters.
Bob is survived by his wife Janet of 62 years, sons Robert "Bobby" Scarberry (Nancy), Jeffrey "Scott" Scarberry (Cheryl) and his daughter Susan "Susie" Brown (Terry), his four grandchildren, Amber (Max) Easton, Joshua Scarberry, Zachary Scarberry and Samuel Brown and his 4 great grandchildren, Ever, Arizona, Max and Kyoshi and one sister, Phyllis (Alfred) Holley of Gallipolis Ohio.
Bob loved all sports, especially those teams he followed faithfully, Marshall University Football and Basketball, the Cincinnati Reds, the Jacksonville Jaguars as well as his beloved favorite, golf. Bob served his country in the United States Air Force and he retired from CSX in 1998, enjoying 20 wonderful retirement years playing golf, traveling to Biloxi with his wife and their best friends, Clayton and Velma Canaday, also of Jacksonville, visiting family and watching all the sports he loved.
Bob was admired by family and friends for his kindness, generosity and wonderful sense of humor, as it was said, "Bob never knew a stranger" and that stood true to the very end. His unconditional love and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed...
The family wishes to thank the loving nursing staff on level 3 of Orange Park Medical Center and Haven Hospice Care Center of Orange Park.
A memorial service will be conducted Monday, September 24th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL 32073. Memorial donations in Bob's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
