Robert L. MorrisonAge: 90 • VeronaRobert Lee Morrison, 90, husband of Irene (Huffer) Morrison, of 102 Fort Defiance Road, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at Augusta Health in Fshersville. Mr. Morrison was born on September 19, 1927 in Pocahontas County, West Virginia a son of the late Jesse and Edna (Sirk) Morrison.Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country during WWII, he was retired from DuPont Company with 42 years of service and following his retirement from DuPont, Mr. Morrison drove a school bus for the Augusta County Schools for 20 additional years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morrison was preceded in death by a son-in-law, G.M. Hutchison, Jr.; two brothers, Dr. Daniel "Buck" Morrison and David Morrison; a granddaughter, Tasha Morrison and two great-grandchildren, Tegan Freed and Jason Scott Thornton.Surviving in addition to his wife whom he married on October 16, 1948 and just recently celebrated their 69th anniversary, are five children; Linda Clark and her husband Leon of Fort Defiance, Nancy Hutchison of Mt. Sidney, Bill Morrison and his wife Julia, Peggy Thornton and her husband Dave and John Morrison and partner Tina Zimmerman; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Lam of Verona and Ellen Riley of Staunton and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, November 2, 2017 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence. A Celebration of Life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Crawford, III. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park with military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Raymond Carrier, Greg Pfeiffer, Mark Cook, Rick Reeves, Tommy Thornton, Buck Thornton, Ivan Michael and William Schindler.Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Morrison's grandchildren and Frank Nolen, Rick Thornton, Charlie Patterson and Ray Floyd.
