This obituary is administered by:
Robert "Bob" L. ClairDecember 15, 1926 - November 7, 2017Robert "Bob" L. Clair, 95, of Nampa, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017 at a Caldwell care center. A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 11 AM on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017 at the Nampa First Christian Church, 619 12th Ave. So. in Nampa with military honors by personnel from the US Navy. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. – 208-442-8171. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.comBob was born on a cold December day, December 15, 1926, in Goodland, Kansas to Lee and Irma Clair. While Bob was still a young boy, the family blew out of Kansas and settled in Gooding, Idaho. The family discovered the Hagerman Valley on a Sunday drive. When they first saw it, Bob thought it was paradise and was happy when the family moved there to work and live on the Sanborn farm. Bob enjoyed growing up on the farm and still has friends in Hagerman. When he was a junior in High School, the family moved to Nampa where he met the love of his life, Lois Wells. August 18, 1945 he and Lois were married and they settled in Coeur 'd Alene. Bob enlisted in the US Navy and was assigned to the dental corps at Camp Farragut. He was proud to serve in the Navy. His pride showed when he revisited Farragut a few years ago and showed us where everything happened. His picture is there for all visitors to see. Once his enlistment was complete, the family moved back to Nampa where Bob enjoyed the life of a family man. He built the family home on Canyon practically on his own, played baseball, badminton, hide & seek and built snowmen with the kids; and he always took time for date night with Lois. He took the family camping and fishing and they visited nearly every national park in the western US. He worked in the dry cleaning business for French Cleaners and drove truck for Stone Poultry and Albertsons. No matter where he worked, he enjoyed his job and made friends wherever he went. The Nampa First Christian Church was an important part of Bob's life. He set the example as an active church member and served as a deacon, elder, as well as a member of the property committee and the district board of the Christian Church. He served as a member and chairman of the local Church Board for many years. He and Lois were instrumental in planning and building the new entrance addition on the church.Bob is survived by his five children, Patricia Younger (Charles), David Neil Clair (Ginger), Kimball Clair (Debra), Clinton Clair (Marie), Dayna Lasselle (Stan), twelve grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois and one grandchild. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Nampa First Christian Church, 619 12th Ave. So. – Nampa, ID 83651.
