FALLBROOK, CA - Bob Hansen, 93, resident of Fallbrook, California, passed away on February 17, 2013. He was born on October 15, 1919 in Racine, Wisconsin,and graduated from Park High School. Bob moved to California in 1969. He is survived by his loving daughters, Kathy Dunkerley, and Roberta Hansen. He has 4 grandchildren: Lindsey Freehill, Laura and Jonathan Dunkerley and Jeffrey Hansen, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Whitey Hansen and mother, Carolyn Curcio. Bob was a legend in motorcycles and motorcycle racing, and is best known for founding Team Hansen, a leading force in motorcycle racing in the 60s and 70s. He was also a senior executive at Honda and Kawasaki during that period. He was inducted into the American Motorcycle Associations Hall of Fame in 1999. Bob was a bomber pilot in WWII, and retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel in 1979. Services will be held Monday, 11 am in the chapel at Berry-Bell and Hall Mortuary in Fallbrook, CA. It has been suggested that donations be given to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame, 13515 Yarmouth Drive, Pickerington, OH 43147, which aims to preserve the heritage of motorcycling.
