Mr. Robert Howard Graybeal, better known as "Pete," of Creston passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2015 surrounded by his family at his residence. He was 71.
Mr. Graybeal was born on Monday, April 26, 1943 in Hemphill, W.Va. to Guy Kenneth and Eva Violet Farmer Graybeal. Pete's priorities were his family, friends and neighbors. He worked a variety of jobs through life but none more important than those within his community. He enjoyed running the Creston Superette while his health allowed, raising a large garden to share, trading on almost anything, fast cars, collecting antiques and fireworks. A charter member of Creston Fire Department and active supporter of various charities, he most enjoyed helping others.
Mr. Graybeal is survived by his wife, Brenda Miller Graybeal; one daughter, Melonie Church and husband Clay, of West Jefferson; two grandsons, Will and Alex Church of Chapel Hill; one brother, Guy Grayeal, Jr. of Creston; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Williams and the Rev. Mike Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1 - 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
