DELOACH Robert Douglas DeLoach passed away peacefully in the presence of family on November 27, 2016. Bob was a loving husband of 58 years and is survived by his wife, Kathy, their children and spouses: Cindy and Richard Gower, Mike and Donna DeLoach, Steve and Tracey DeLoach, and David and Ellen DeLoach, and their grandchildren: Chris and Nick Gower; Ryan DeLoach, Lauren Graham, and Connor DeLoach; Scott and Sara DeLoach; and Adam, Patrick, Justin, and Benjamin DeLoach. He was predeceased by his parents Douglas Dewey DeLoach and Christine Hendry DeLoach and sister Joyce Elaine DeLoach. Bob was born on July 6, 1932 in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended Andrew Jackson High School and earned his Master of Science in Engineering at The University of Florida. A proud veteran and member of the
United States Navy, Bob retired as a Captain in the Naval Reserve. Bob was a Research Assistant and taught at the University of Florida College of Engineering, served as the Director of Communications and Computer Services at Eastern Airlines in Miami, and was Vice President of Information Systems at Entergy Services in New Orleans. Bob and Kathy retired to St. Simons Island in 1994. Bob will be best remembered for his love of family and friends, his varied interests, and involvement in local community organizations and activities. He was an avid photographer, craftsman, and aviation enthusiast. He enjoyed reading, camping, fishing, traveling, and shooting. We will miss his love and guidance, as well as his sense of humor and mischievous grin. Bob is loved and will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, December 1, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday, December 2, at St. William Catholic Church on St. Simons Island. Interment will be at 2:30 PM Friday at Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL. The family would like to recognize the kindness of Dr. James Greene and caregiver Michelle Johnson.
