Schaus, Robert D.Robert D. Schaus, age 79, of Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Friday, December 2, 2016 at his residence.Bob was born on February 5, 1937 in Two Rivers, son of the late Robert C. and Bernice A. (Rief) Schaus. He attended several grade schools growing up in the Manitowoc and Two Rivers area, graduating in 1956 from Two Rivers Washington High School. Bob retired from the Weyerhauser Company in Manitowoc in 1999. On June 29, 1968, Bob was married to the former Ardyce "Cookie" Ashley in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2000. In 1955, Bob entered the National Guard as a junior in high school and was discharged in 1959. In 1959 he enlisted in the United States Army for three years, stationed in Germany. In 1972 he reentered the National Guard in Two Rivers and transferred to the 277th Army Reserve Unit in Manitowoc, retiring in 1989. He was a member of several military veteran organizations and several Veteran's Honor Guards for funerals. Bob was a former member of St. Luke Catholic Church and St. Peter The Fisherman Parish of Two Rivers.Survivors include: one sister and brother-in-law: Diane (Dean) Ebert, Two Rivers; one special family friend: Edmund Cox, Manitowoc, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert C. and Bernice A. Schaus; his wife: Ardyce "Cookie" Schaus; one sister: Marjorie Reilly.A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Knollwood Memorial Gardens, 1550 Highway 310, Manitowoc. Deacon Paul Gleichner will officiate. Military Graveside Honors will be accorded by Two Rivers VFW Post #1248 and American Legion Post #165.
