Robert D. "Bob" Morrow, 91Robert D. "Bob" Morrow, of Delphi, passed away on November 16, 2016 at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette, Indiana. Bob was born on June 27, 1925 in Delphi, Indiana to the late Francis E. and Bertha Elizabeth (Brooks) Morrow. He was a 1943 graduate of Delphi High School and had attended St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana for 2 years.Mr. Morrow served in the Army 120th Infantry Regiment 30th Division from 1943 until he was injured in action while serving in Aachen, Germany, earning him the Purple Heart.Mr. Morrow served for over 59 years as the Veterans' Service Officer of Carroll County. He went above and beyond to see that veterans and their families received the veteran's benefits they had earned. He often helped veterans to get to their doctor's appointments and delivered them food baskets. He received the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash award for his decades of service. He also was awarded the 1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars Distinguished Service Award and the 2009 American Legion Outstanding Citizen Award.He enjoyed watching baseball. He loved watching the Cubs play in Chicago and traveled there never missing a Sunday Double Header with friends. He was a Chicago Bears fan and traveled to their games for 20 years. Bob was a member of the Delphi American Legion Post 75, Delphi VFW 9383, Carroll County Honor Guard and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi.He is survived by his companion, Pat Measels; sister, Josephine White of Lafayette; nieces and nephews: Carolyn Kopp of California, Robert "Bob" White (Marjorie) of Lafayette, Rudy Gardiner (Terri) of Lafayette, Richard Gardiner (Suzanne) of Delphi, Bill Gardiner (Olga) of Lafayette, Randy Gardiner (Anita) of Delphi, Richard Gardiner (Rhonda) of Delphi, Sandy Davis Jerry) of California, Jeanne Elliott (George) of Cincinnati, and Tom Ward (Pam) of Cincinnati; 20 Great nieces & nephews and several great great nieces and nephews.Along with his parents, he was preceded by siblings: John Morrow, Francis W. "Mike" Morrow, Mary Catherine Ward, Helen Louise Morrow, Elizabeth Gardiner and Bethel Baird, and a nephew, Mike White.Funeral Services will be on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi with Father Bob Williams officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Delphi with Military Graveside Rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard.Visitation will be from 3-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Davidson Funeral Home in Delphi. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Wounded Warriors Project.
