HAMILTON, TX - Robert Leldon Cochran was born on July 3, 1933 in Lamesa, Texas. He was the son of Norman Palmer Cochran and Elma Myrle Cochran. He spent most of his childhood in Odessa, Texas and graduated from Odessa High School in 1952. He then attended Odessa Junior College. He married Sylvia LaRue Elliott on January 25, 1964 in Lubbock, Texas. In Odessa, he was a partner in Athletic Supply and later owned The Brownie Shoppe, a gift and bridal boutique. In 1979, he moved to Hamilton where he was involved in the oil industry, real estate, and Beefmaster cattle. He served as director of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and also on the administrative board at the First United Methodist Church, where he was a member until his death.He was a loving and devoted husband and father, and enjoyed spending time with family. He loved to be out in nature. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and feeding and watching birds. He also loved reading western novels. He was a fan of many sports with baseball being his favorite. He passed away on the morning of November 14, 2016, where he was out at his farm picking up pecans, one of his favorite activities.Memorial service is at 10:00 Thursday, November 17 at First United Methodist Church Hamilton.He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrle Luttrell and stepdad, Clyde Luttrell. Survivors include his wife, LaRue Cochran of Hamilton; his son, Rob Cochran of McKinney; his daughter, Cindy Cochran of Brenham; his sister-in-law, Charlotte Cain and her husband Jim Cain of Waurika, Oklahoma; and their son Jack Cain of Duncan, Oklahoma; also, nephews and niece of deceased brother-in-law, Keith Elliott. These include Yale Elliott of Lubbock; Suzanne Blowers and husband, Clive of The Colony, and Lance Elliott and wife, Ali of Celeste.
