Robert Cargill "Carkie" Holt age 78 of Route 28 Brockway, PA; entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 29, 2016 at his residence. He was born on November 8, 1937 in Sugar Hill, PA; the son of the late Benjamin W. and Ellen "Edna" Shields Holt. He attended Brockway Schools and graduated in 1956. He was employed at Brockway Glass Co. (now know as Owens-Illinois) where he worked in the Packing Department or All-Round Jack and Fork Lift Operator moving on to the Machine Shop Department. He loved working with tools, and repairing, and building the glass manufacturing machines. For his job he traveled coast to coast. He retired on April 1, 2001 as Crew Leader for the Machine Shop. On August 29, 1959 he married Kathleen Wingard at the Munderf Methodist Church. They have 1 son David "Brian" Holt who resides at Sugar Hill with his mother, and 1 daughter Michelle Anne Holt who resides in Wilmington, NC. Robert came from a large family of 4 brothers and 5 sisters. William (Joyce) Holt of Munderf, PA; Benjamin (Arvilla) Holt of Sugar Hill; Kenneth (Sue) Holt of Sugar Hill; Virginia (Lowell) Young of Worthville, PA; Leona Himes of Hazen; Margaret Holt of Sugar Hill; Mary (Bob) Moody of Brockport. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by an infant brother David Holt; an infant sister Beverly Holt; a sister Grace Ross and a brother-in-law Dave Himes. He is also survived by numerous cousins, and many nieces and nephews. Carkie loved his brothers, sisters and his entire extended family. He spent many happy hours working on the family farm making hay, cutting firewood and doing what he could do to help. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening and "fixing things" always looking for ways to improve machinery which was one of his God-Given talents. He helped his neighbors repairing and servicing their diesel trucks. "Brian" and Michelle loved their Dad. Michelle shares these words to her friends and family: "My Dad was the greatest man I have ever known and it is gut wrenching to say his time here with us has ended. But I believe his pain is over and life begins again for all of us. For today we start over and keep going forward. I will never be the same without you here and will try to honor your memory with all that I am, because I am part of you always.
