Obituary

Robert Anthony Wilson was born in Baltimore on March to Margaret Robertina Stokes Wilson and Thomas A. Wilson, Sr. He was Baptized into the Lord on April 11, 1954 at St. Peter Claver Church, Baltimore. After having “run the race and keeping the faith, Robert was put right with God” (2 Timothy 4:7-8) on the morning of October 24, 2019. He was 65 years old. 

Robert attended St. Cecilia Catholic School, Cardinal Gibbons High School and Morgan State University having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work. During these times of acquiring his education, Robert gained the nickname of “Buddy Wilson” by friends and classmates. 

Robert was a devoted Son to his Parents and Brother to His Siblings. We have many stories of Robert going “above and beyond” to aide his ailing parents and supporting his siblings with their children, house moving, house sitting as well as during illnesses and loss of Spouse. Robert was a loving husband to Mona and devoted stepfather to Eric and Joy. Mona often shared with the family and others that “Robert Is My Best Friend”.

Robert had an interesting work history. As a youth, he worked at the old Arundel Ice Cream Store on North Avenue. Robert even went to Colorado to lay down the newly invented cables for Television with friend Wayne Watts. Robert also worked for Baltimore City’s Rat Eradication program. He was an ardent worker and approached his Social Work work-life as a ministry. One of His first jobs after College, in his profession was at CHIMES, where he met the “Love of his Life”, Mona G. Anderson. While working for almost 30 years at Revisions in Ellicott City, Robert was known as a valued employee, dedicated to his clients. Robert received awards and accolades for his service at Revisions.

Robert was a sports enthusiast, loving the games of football, baseball and even wrestling. Robert’s baseball skills earned him the nick-name “The Claw” as he was a strong left-handed player. He also was an athlete, jogging and running all throughout Baltimore City and County.  A love of music filled Robert’s life having Johnny Mathis and the Delfonics at the top of his playlist. Robert was a news and history hound and enjoyed old movies on the silver screen.

Robert was a Christian, witnessing the life of Christ through many acts of kindness, helping wherever he could, visiting the sick at hospitals, cooking and sharing food especially with the elderly and those undergoing a lost of hope. He lived a life that echoed the scriptures, hearing Jesus saying…whatsoever you do for the least of my people, that you do unto me (Mt. 25:40).

Robert now joins the circle of ancestors- His Parents Thomas and Margaret Wilson and Brother, Michael J. Wilson.  Robert leaves to mourn a loving, loving Wife- Mona, children- Eric and Joy; Siblings- Maria A. King, Therese M. Favors (Andrew), Thomas A. Wilson, Jr. (Diane), David F. Wilson (Angela) and Judy A. Ringgold (Steven); Very Close Nephew- Mark A. King, as well as a  host of Relatives… Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews and Nieces and a wide circle  of Friends who became  and are Family.

I have done my best in the race.
