He graduated from Lowell High School, Lowell State College, and received a Masters degree in education from Northeastern University. He started his career as a science teacher at the Daley School in Lowell, but is most well known as the dynamic and beloved principal at Edith Norse Rogers School in Lowell. As the consummate administrator, he enjoyed and mastered the art of making positive change, earning him the nickname "El Presidente". He served as President of the School Administrators' Union for the majority of his career. For many years Dick was on the board of directors in many capacities including the office of president of both the Mallards Landing Association in Bristol, NH and the Hidden Harbour Estates in Stuart, FL. He was a well loved and respected member of those communities while he lived and served there. Dick was very involved in his community, well known as a politician, negotiator, and often a jokester. He had a love for all things related to water, whether it be swimming, boating, or storm chasing, Dick was happiest by the sea, on the lake, or in the pool. Dick's true passion, however, was his family. With all his various titles, his proudest were most certainly Husband, Father and Papa. Dick was a proud Veteran of the US Air Force, having served as a sergeant in the Korean War. A private celebration of life will be held on Tuesday April 4th for the immediate family only.
