Richard A. SolomonRichard Allen (Dickie) Solomon of Loxley, Alabama, passed away peacefully in the early hours of December 1, 2016 at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama. He was 73 years of age.Richard is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Eide-Solomon of Loxley; sons Thad (Lara) Solomon of College Station, Texas, Brad (Monica) Solomon of Milton, Florida, Mike (Sarah) Eide of Austin, Texas; daughters Leighanne Eide and Suzanne Eide both of Pensacola. He is also survived by his brother Charles Solomon of Jacksonville, Florida, and his sister Mary Frances (Randy) Morris of Stockton, Alabama, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Richard was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to all.Richard was born on May 31, 1943 in Gadsden, Alabama to William Hubert and Monsie Earl (Monk) Solomon. He graduated from J.U. Blacksher High School in Uriah, Alabama, and earned a bachelor's degree in music and a master's degree in education from Livingston University. He also earned a bachelor's degree in computer programming from the University of West Florida. Over the years, Richard worked as an educator, band director, and information technology specialist.Richard was very active in the community and loved days filled with laughter. He enjoyed a good day's work, and a number of activities including traveling, camping, playing trombone in a jazz band, and volunteering at the Loxley Senior Citizens Center. He enjoyed helping others and always found ways to do so. Richard was always there to help family, friends, or anyone who needed it with building projects, transportation, household repairs, and much more. A carpenter, builder, musician, all around computer whiz, mechanic, gardener, and traveler, he was known and loved as a good man to his neighbor.The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 4, beginning at 1 p.m. with a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the Mack Funeral Home located at 22154 State Highway 59 South, Robertsdale, Alabama. Richard will be laid to rest at New Home Cemetery in Monroe County, Alabama.
