Richard "Rich" Sheldon Wilkins, of Yuba City, CA, died peacefully in his home, with his wife and daughters by his side, on October 9, 2017. He was 79 years old.Rich was born on July 27, 1938, in Arbuckle, CA, to Rodley and Wilma Wilkins, and was raised in College City, CA. He graduated from Pierce High School while serving as student body president. He made Colusa County the home for his family for many years. Rich joined the
United States Coast Guard as a reservist and spent duty time on the west coast.After both daughters graduated from high school, Rich was fortunate to work for an international construction company that allowed him and his wife to live in many beautiful cities throughout the United States until he retired. After retiring he and Joyce relocated to Yuba City, CA, to be near family.Rich was an avid outdoorsman and an accomplished taxidermist who loved hiking, hunting, golfing, fishing, abalone diving, water skiing and camping. He will be forever cherished and missed by his family and all who knew him.Rich passed away peacefully in this home from the complications of Alzheimer's disease. He never lost his positive outlook, even in the face of this devastating disease.Rich is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Joyce (Aulgur) Wilkins; daughters, Shelley (Owen) McGrath and Sara (Doug) Coleman; grandchildren, Megan McGrath, Erik Coleman, Dane Coleman and Emma Coleman; brothers, Gary (June) Wilkins, and Robert "Smokey" (Violet) Wilkins; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.A celebration of life and potluck luncheon is scheduled for October 28, 2017, at 11:00am at the Yuba Room located at the Bonanza Inn and Suites, 1001 Clark Avenue, Yuba City, CA.
