RICHARD H. SCOTTMANSFIELD: Richard H. Scott, 84, of Mansfield, passed away at home on the farm on Friday, February 17, 2017, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Richard was born on July 26, 1932, in Mansfield, to Thomas and Helen (Mitz Smith) Scott. Richard served in the U.S. Army in Berlin during the Cold War. He was a long-time tool and die maker and an expert engine mechanic and handyman. He built his house in which he raised his five sons. He could always be found fixing things around people's homes. Richard was always involved in the community; running a Little League operation in Lucas, coaching basketball, and serving as a Township Trustee. He could often be seen on his John Deere and Ford tractors working on the farm, snow plowing a neighbor's driveway, or guiding his grandchildren around the farm on a variety of modified lawn tractors.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rose (Little) Scott; five sons, John (DeAnn) Scott of Columbus Grove, OH, Dan (Martha) Scott of VA, Jim Scott (Lindsay McDonnell) of Columbus, Doug (Narissa) Scott of Panama City, FL, and Jerry (Shannon) Scott of CO; twelve grandchildren, Jamienne (Sean) McKee, Dylan Scott, Derryn Scott, Jocelyn Scott, Lisa Scott, Jackie Scott, Jeffrey Scott, Andrew (Jean) Scott, Brian (Heather) Scott, Lauren Scott, Sam Scott, and Pete Scott; five step-grandchildren, Adam Zimmerman, Ben Zimmerman, April Fullenkamp, Meghan Martin, and Matt McDonnell; three great-grandchildren, Evelyn Scott, Dane Scott and Amelia Scott; and three brothers, William (Kathy) Scott of Lucas, and David (Shaleen) Scott and Thomas (Cecilia) Scott both of TX.Richard was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters-in-law, Viola Scott and Delores "Dee" Scott.Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, LTD, 1106 Park Ave East, Mansfield.
