Richard Phetteplace1947 - 2017Richard L. Phetteplace, 70, of Pensacola passed away March 7, 2017. He was born on February 13, 1947 to David and Elizabeth (Gibson) Phetteplace, Jr.He retired as a meat cutter from Albertsons after 25 years of service. Richard enjoyed tinkering in his garage. Richard rebuilt his 1985 mustang that his son will continue his legacy by making it a racecar.Richard's passion was NASCAR, metal detecting, throwing his cast net and collecting EVERYTHING. He also loved going to the beach. Cooking was his talent; many people would ask him what his secret was, which he never revealed. Richard's grandchildren were his life, he loved having them around, cooking for them but mostly spoiling them.He loved taking care of others, making sure they were okay, even when he was having problems of his own.Richard was a caring, giving, gentle man; who will be missed by all.He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Buckles and brother, Howard Phetteplace.Richard leaves to cherish memories: beloved wife of 33 years, Maureen Phetteplace; children, Debbie (Tim) Mathews, Larry (Leigh) Green, Jr. and Bill Kendall; brothers, Ed Stuart, Jimmy (Vonda) Phetteplace, David (Betty) Phetteplace, Jr.; grandchildren, Amber Exum, Logan Deel, Kyler Deel, Emerald Green, Chance Outten, Cameron Green, Audrey Green and Sydney Green; two great-grandchildren, Anya Exum and Mason Trout; and a host of relatives and friends.Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until memorial service begins at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2017 at Trahan Family Funeral Home, who is directing.Express your condolences in our guestbook at pnj.com/obits
