Richard N. Little, 85Richard N. Little, 85, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family. Dick was born on December 12, 1927 in Canton, Ohio, the son of David and Gladys (Kelly) Little. He rose to the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Uijeongbu, South Korea. He earned a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from
Purdue University in 1952 and worked in Detroit as in Engineer for Pontiac, Ford (doing test trips up Pikes Peak in the summer and in Bemidji, Minnesota during the winter), Holley Carburetor, and in Decatur at Marvel-Schebler-Tillotson Div. of Borg Warner where he served as Director of Engineering. Dick married the love of his life, Mary Eva Lannert, on May 16, 1953 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette, Indiana. After 60 years of marriage, they were parted by death, just 28 days ago. Surviving are their three children Richard W. (Constance) Little of Peoria, Mary A. (Jeff) Jenkins of Decatur and Thomas P. (Linda) Little of Decatur; and their seven grandchildren, Daniel C. Little, Jessica A. Jenkins, Joshua R. Jenkins, Zachary T. (Christal) Little, Amy C. Little, Lieutenant Benjamin J. (Lindsey) Little and Hannah R. Little. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother William (Vera) Little. Dick was a devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rick Weltin as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before the service in the church. Inurnment will be in Graceland Cemetery with Military Honors.
