Richard L. "Dick" Detrick, 69, of Mission Avenue, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at his home in Carlsbad after a short battle with terminal cancer. Cremation has taken place and the family is having a Memorial Service on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Landmark Baptist Church with retired Pastor, Dennis McKinley and Pastor Destry McDonald both of Landmark Baptist Church and Chaplain Terry McKean of Lakeview Christian Hospice officiating. Condolences may be expressed at westfuneralhomellc.com Mr. Detrick was born on August 30, 1947 in Clarion, PA to Robert Lee and Ruth Rebecca (Beveridge) Detrick. He was a Navy Vietnam Veteran and a member of the BPOE Elks 1558. He went to trade school and earned his Diesel Mechanic certification in Casper, WY and also earned his certification in HVAC trade school in Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his son Bryan Scott Detrick; parents; older brother John H. Detrick; older sister Ruth Ann Detrick Mitchell; mother in law Harriet Turner and his brother in law Rick Turner. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sandy (Turner) Detrick; sons: Gary D. Detrick and wife Starlett and Robert "Butch" Detrick and wife Donna and daughter, Deana Detrick Pearce and husband Jim, all of Carlsbad; daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Detrick Moomey and husband Lyle of Bosque Farms, NM; daughter in law Shelly Detrick of Los Lunas, NM; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother William "Bill" Detrick of Farmington, NM and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
