FAIRBORN — Richard F. "Rich" Ketchen, age 83 of Fairborn, passed away Tuesday August 12, 2014. He was born on January 24, 1931 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late John and Anna (Podojil) Ketchen. Rich was a longtime member of Mary, Help of Christians Church and the Knights of Columbus, Fairborn Council #3724, serving as Grand Knight in 1975. He served his country in the US Air Force during Korea and followed with employment in civil service, retiring from Wright-Patterson AFB after 42 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Anthony. Rich is survived by his wife, Martha of 61 years; children, John (Laura) Ketchen, Virginia (Gary) Hayes, Gina (Trisha Schmidt) Ketchen; 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Scott, Christy, Brian, Allyson, Thomas; 8 great-grandchildren, Timothy, Jordan, Briana, Brody, Brittnie, Brady, Landon and Londyn; brother, Robert Ketchen; as well as numerous friends. The family will receive friendson Friday August 15 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday August 16 at 10:00 A.M. in the Mary, Help of Christians Catholic Church, 954 N Maple Ave., Fairborn, Father Charles Lang Celebrant.
