STRODE, Richard Howard Age 84, a lifelong resident of Hamilton and Fairfield, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Berkeley Square Retirement Community. He was born on July 20, 1932, in Hamilton, Ohio the son of Howard and Martha (Clendenin) Strode and was a 1950 graduate of Hamilton High School. On August 27, 1954, in Hamilton he married Jean A. Spaulding and she preceded him in death on April 10, 2016. He graduated from Miami University in December 1954, and served in the United State's Army from 1955-1956, stationed at Fort Lewis in Tacoma Washington. After his discharge from the Army, Richard was employed in various executive roles at Champion Papers in Hamilton for more than 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a devoted and loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend. Richard will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Survivors include two sons, David (Leslie) Strode of Greeley, Colorado and Mark (Jill) Strode of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy (Ken) Strong of Eugene, Oregon. Besides his wife, Jean, he was also preceded in death by his parents. Public visitation will not be held and there will be a private burial service at Rose Hill Burial Park. A celebration of life event will be held in the near future, scheduled at a time convenient for the family and friends.
