Maxon, Richard Curtis Dr. Richard Curtis Maxon passed away peacefully at his Scottsdale home on December 3, 2016 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, son David of Fort Worth, TX., daughter Ruth Rosenquist of Paradise Valley, AZ., and grandchildren, Scott, Lauren and Riley Rosenquist of Scottsdale, AZ. Richard was born on March 14, 1929 and raised in Albany, MO. He received his PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Missouri in August 1963. He was a Professor of Agricultural Economics at Iowa State University and in addition, worked for the ISU Agriculture Extension Services in Ames, Iowa from 1963-1976. Richard and his family relocated to the Phoenix area in 1978 after he had embarked on numerous positions teaching and conducting research projects in remote regions throughout the world for Rockefeller Foundation and US Agency for International Development through Kansas State University. After retirement, Richard continued to teach and mentor students at Western International University in Phoenix. In addition, he continued overseas projects for Agricultural Cooperative Development International/Volunteers In Overseas Cooperative Assistance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mabel Maxon of Marysville, MO and brothers Harold, Donald, Edward and sister Mildred Butt. Richard will always be remembered for his commitment to bettering the plight of the less fortunate in underdeveloped parts of the world. Interment and memorial services will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 2:30 pm.
