Mrs. Recie Zell Bare Testerman of Jefferson died on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 at the Ashe Memorial Hospital. She was 72.

Mrs. Testerman was born on Dec. 29, 1941 in Ashe County to Cosby and Hattie Bare. Mrs. Testerman was preceded in death by her parent; husbands, Sidney Pennington, Ed Testerman; two brothers, Dewey Clifford Bare, infant brother, Isaac Bare and two sisters, Nellie McNeil and Madge Bare Howell.

Mrs. Testerman was a member of Whitehead Union Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church, cooking and was a mother figure to anyone she met, putting their needs before her own.

Mrs. Testerman is survived by: son, Randy Pennington and fiancée, Kay Faircloth of Jefferson; brother, Nelson Bare of Fleetwood; sister, Christine Brown of Todd; two grandchildren, Jada Pennington, Kimberly Smith; great granddaughter, Ava Moser; step grandson, Kevin Faircloth; special friend, Dorothy Hoppers; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014 at 3 p.m. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Dan Edwards and Joe Winters. Burial followed in Roans Creek Cemetery. The family received friends on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014 at Badger Funeral Home.
