Raymundo Gallegos, 96, passed away on April 10, 2017 in Alamogordo. He was born on October 8, 1920 in Dilia, New Mexico to Jose and Juanita Gallegos. He moved to Alamogordo, NM in 1958 from Fort Sumner, NM. He retired from Civil Service after 20 years. Raymundo was a Veteran of WWII where he earned several metals including the Purple Heart. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Raymundo is survived by his daughters, Jenny, Angela (Vince Ortega), Ruby (Ted Freeman), and Mary (Henry Cota); his son, Raymond; granddaughters, Cynthia Anderson, Tamara Richards, Teresa Garrett, Denise McGuire, Geneva Riordan, Lisa Roberts, Tish Gallegos, Tanya Juenger, and Ashley Godinez; grandsons, Vince and Richard Ortega, Robert and Gary Freeman, Phillip and Michael Cota, and David Gallegos; 39 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Sophia Gallegos, his parents, three brothers and three sisters. Viewing will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.The Rosary for Raymundo Gallegos will be recited at 9:30 am, Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.Pallbearers include Raymundo's grandchildren.
