Thelen, RaymondRaymond F. Thelen, 86, formerly of the Town of Ashford, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac. He was born on the family homestead in the Town of Ashford on May 8, 1931, the son of Leo and Eleanor (Haas) Thelen. On September 1st, 1962 he married Elaine M. Gauger at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Ashford. Ray farmed, worked at Stella Cheese, a canning factory and then worked as a mason for many years. He also sold insurance for Ashford Mutual and in retirement drove school bus and delivered cars for Ernie von Schledorn. Ray was a member of St. Martin's Chapel in Ashford. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and bowling. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and sheepshead. Ray served on the Campbellsport School Board for many years and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a great Packers fan! Ray is survived by his wife Elaine, his daughters Kim (Tom) Walters and Karrie (Greg) Isken, his grandchildren Melissa, Miranda and Nicholas, great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Wyatt and Harrison, his brothers, Leo (Bette) Thelen and Robert (Nettie) Thelen, his sister Audrey Ruplinger, his sisters-in-law Barb Thelen, Barb Resop, Sharon Jurgensmier and Mary Jo Gauger, his brother-in-law Robert Gauger, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his uncle Frank Thelen, his brother, John Thelen and his brothers-in-law Leander Ruplinger, Rich Resop, Ron Jurgensmier, and Wayne Gauger, and his sister-in-law Joanne Gauger. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 1st, at 6:00 PM at St. Martin's Chapel (N1271 Minnie Lane, Campbellsport). Reverend Mark Jones will officiate and inurnment will take place Wednesday, August 2nd in Estabrooks Cemetery, Fond du Lac. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 1st from 3:00 PM until time of Mass at St. Martin's Chapel, Ashford. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to St. Martin's Chapel.
