Sommers, Raymond E.Raymond E. Sommers, age 80, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017. He was born on July 6, 1937 to the late Frank and Evelyn (Young) Sommers. Raymond grew up in Hortonville, graduating from Hortonville High School. He worked at Voith, working his way through the ranks over 42 years to hold a position as supervisor. He retired from Voith in 2002. In 1965, Raymond married Janice Gruber. Together, they enjoyed going out to eat with friends Greg (Jean) and Jeff (Terri), spending time with Don (Karen), shopping, spending time with family, and taking trips to Colorado to visit friends Bill and Nona. Raymond adored watching Packer games with his nieces and nephew: Laurie (Steve), Karla (Bill), Jodi (Butch), and Cory (Wendy). Raymond will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Janice; brothers: Robert Sommers, Daniel Sommers, Arthur (Bonnie) Sommers; sisters: Rita Woods, Angeline (Larry) Kruzicki and Janice (Thomas) Lawson; sister-in-law, Karen (Don) Werner; and many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank (Evelyn) Sommers; brothers: Leon (Barbara) Sommers, Francis (Janice) Sommers, Kenneth Sommers, and William Sommers; brother-in-law, John Woods; sister-in-law, Valerie Sommers; and special friends, Sharon and Tom Wichman.Funeral liturgy for Raymond will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 South State Street, Appleton. There will be a time on visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior St. Appleton, and again on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Online condolences may be expressed at
