Randy L. Poffenberger, age 68, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, at his home in Kasson. The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 301 8th Ave. NW, Kasson. The visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, and one hour prior to the service, all at the church. Randy Lee Poffenberger was born on Sept. 10, 1948, in Owatonna, to Clifford and Darlene (Louks) Poffenberger. He graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 1967. Randy began his construction career at a young age working with his father. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for a few years. Randy also worked as a heavy equipment operator and helped dig the setting for Mayo Clinic's Gonda Building. On Oct. 17, 1970, he married Kathi Jeglum in Rushford. They had one daughter, Lisa, and later divorced. Randy made his home in Kasson with Kim Lewis on a hobby farm where they lived for more than 30 years. They had three daughters, Kassie, Krissie and Kelcie. Randy loved all animals including his horses, goats, chickens, dogs and many pigeons. He was an active hunter and fisherman and taught his family those hobbies. Randy especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a proud member of the union for more than 23 years. Randy is survived by his significant other, Kim Lewis of Kasson; daughter, Lisa (Tim) Ripley of Kasson and grandsons, Brandon, Bryan and Collin; daughter, Kassie (Lee Giorno) Poffenberger of Rochester and grandson, Logan; daughter, Krissie (Jason Hunt) Poffenberger of Rochester, and grandchildren, Addison and Jordyn; daughter, Kelcie (Justin Baker) of Dodge Center with a granddaughter on the way; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
