Randolph Maynard Sink GREENSBORO, NC - Randolph Maynard Sink died on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2016, at Saint Pius the Tenth Catholic Church, 2210 North Elm Street. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia. Randolph was born on June 24, 1929 to the late Mary and Arthur Sink in Roanoke Virginia. He graduated from Wake Forest College in 1950 with a chemistry degree. After graduation, he worked for Hercules, Inc. in Radford Virginia as a shift chemist. He moved to Kansas to work at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant. He met and married Joan Frances Kienhofer in Cumberland Maryland in 1963. He had moved to Cumberland with Hercules to the Allegheny Ballistics Laboratory. Randolph and Joan moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to continue his career with Hercules in 1963 to work on the Poseidon Missile program. Finally, in June 1977, having lived in Utah for 12 years, he moved to Charleston South Carolina with his wife and their two children, to become the Resident Manager at POMFLANT. Randolph was very creative. He painted and was an avid photographer. Pottery was a hobby, he took up in Salt Lake City. home projects were always on his list. He built decks, refinished furniture, and did work including adding crown molding to many rooms. Randolph's gardens were considered to be Southern Living material by all of his neighbors and friends. After retiring, Randolph and Joan traveled the country, visited with friends, took care of the grandchildren and delivered Meals on Wheels for 10 years. Randolph and Joan were married for 53 years. He cherished her and his family. The annual beach trip will be a favorite memory. His children and his grandchildren meant the world to him. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Joan Frances (Kienhofer) Sink of Greensboro North Carolina; son, Shannon Sink and wife, Diane, of Newnan Georgia; daughter, Shawn Trego and husband, David, of Greensboro North Carolina; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Trego, Colton Sink, Anna Trego and Rachel Trego. In lieu of flowers, donations in Randolph's memory may be made to St. John the Beloved Catholic Church Building Fund, 28 Sumter Ave., Summerville, SC 29483, or St. Pius X Building Fund, 2210 N Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27408.
