HANNA CITY, IL - age 58, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Randy was born on November 9, 1955 in Lafayette, Indiana to Edward L. and Rosemary C. (Ketterer) Furrer. He married Robin E. Foster on July 21, 1984 in Buck Creek, Indiana. Randy is survived by his wife, Robin; his daughter, Miranda Furrer, whom is attending grad school in Fort Collins, CO; his mother, Rosemary Furrer of Lafayette, IN; his sister, Ruth (Jeff) Hayes of Noblesville, IN; his brother, Steve (Vanessa) Furrer of Avon Lake, OH; his mother and stepfather- in-law, Reta (Rex) Bowman of Lafayette, IN; his brother-in-law, John (Susan) Foster of Lafayette, IN; and his two sisters-in-law, Cindy (Edmundo) Salazar of Lafayette, IN and Anita Foster of Normal, IL. He was preceded in death by his father and father- in-law, Daniel C. Foster. Randy was an engineer for Caterpillar for over nine years. He was a member of Elmwood United Methodist Church and the Chillicothe Sportsman’s Club. Randy was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Harrison High School, West Lafayette, Indiana in 1974 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors with his family. Randy also liked to draw, sketch and photograph wildlife. He liked nothing more than to make his family laugh. a Randy and his family formerly lived in West Branch, Iowa and Union Grove, Wisconsin. Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 1pm, (Central Time), at the Wildlife Prairie Park’s Hespell Deck. Wildlife Prairie Park is located near Hanna City, Illinois. The family will be available beginning at 12:30pm. Rev. Brad Watkins will be officiating.
