Ralph T. Watson IIOLD FORT: Ralph T. Watson II, 86, of Old Fort, passed away at 2:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Fremont Memorial Hospital.Ralph was born on October 20, 1930 in Oakland, California, to the late Marshall F. and Norene (Fry) Watson. He married Edna M. (Grine) at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Tiffin, on June 23, 1956 and she survives in Old Fort. Ralph is also survived by his son, David M. Watson of Old Fort and a sister, Winifred A. Tart of Greenwich, Connecticut. Mr. Watson was a lifetime farmer where he was the caretaker and eventual owner of his family's property around Old Fort. He served on the People's Mercantile and Elevator Association board of directors and was a member of the Old Fort United Methodist Church. There he was active with the Faithful Followers Sunday School Class and was a Communion Steward for many years. Ralph was a 50+ year Old Fort Lions Club member serving as President and virtually all other posts and an Old Fort High School graduate. Ralph was a United States Army Veteran who served stateside at Ft. Carson, Colorado during the Korean War.Ralph and Edna enjoyed traveling from the time they were married with a trip around Lake Erie to Niagara Falls and back...to all but 3 states in the union including Alaska and Hawaii. They also visited Australia, New Zealand, Nova Scotia, Europe twice, England, Ireland and Scotland. They made it a point to always take a vacation however short it may be every year....and after Edna retired they took many longer (up to 30 days!) when possible.Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ralph T. Watson III and a brother, Kenneth D. Watson.There will be a memorial service for Ralph held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin with the Rev. Mark Quinter officiating. There will be a short Lions Club memorial service immediately preceding the services for the family and friends. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Saturday, from 12:00 PM. until the time of the service. Burial of his ashes will follow the services on Saturday, at Pleasant Union Cemetery in Old Fort.Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Fort Lions Club or the Pleasant Union Cemetery Association.
