Ralph Edward Morton, 86, of St. Peter, passed away at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at his residence, surrounded by his family.Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with the Rev. William Emrick officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church. Runge on May 16, 1958, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter.He retired from Kidd's Service Station in Vandalia, Wehrle Brothers John Deere of Vandalia and Gateway Inn motel of Effingham. He was a member of St. Peter American Legion Post No. 380 and St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Ralph enjoyed working outside and spending time with family and friends.He is survived by his wife; son, Phil Morton and his wife Trena of Mt. Vernon; sister, Joyce Kidd of Vandalia; and grandchildren, Ashley Morton, Craig Morton, Zachary Youngblood and Caleb Halverson.He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Charles and William Morton.
