This obituary is administered by:
Polly Ann Wright Carlton1937-2016Polly Ann Wright Carlton passed from her temporary earthly home and joined her Lord and Savior in her eternal heavenly home at 12:22 p.m. on Sunday, the 11th of December 2016.Polly was born on the 4th of November 1937, to John L. Wright, and Pauline Wright, in Goose Creek, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William Carlton. He was the love of her life. She is also survived by her son, Brad Carlton, and his wife, Skye; grandchildren, Hannah Carlton and Kendall Carlton, Hannah Kuntz, Noah and Lydia Lambing, and Theron Matthews; cousins Kevin and Sheliea Lambing and Dorothy Brock, as well as many other precious family members and friends.Polly and Willie spent twenty wonderful and exciting years in the United States Air Force. She shared with practically everyone she met how much she enjoyed being an Air Force wife, and how willingly she would do it all again – as long as she and Willie were together. After Willie retired from the Air Force, as a Lieutenant Colonel, he and Polly started their own business, known as C&C Supply Company, Inc. They operated their successful firm for another twenty years, retiring for the final time in 1998.Following their retirement, Polly and Willie set off on continual adventures, making lifelong memories, almost exclusively centered around family or church activities. These memories will never fade from the minds of those who were blessed to share them. There is not a person who had the honor and privilege of knowing Polly, who came away untouched by her love. She continually put the needs of others above her own, from the time that she rose in the morning, until the time she laid her head on the pillow at night. Her beautiful smile was infectious, and she immediately lit up any room that she entered. Her selfless spirit was a gift from above, and deeply impacted countless lives.Polly was a strong Christian, whose love for her family was eclipsed only by her love for Jesus. She is, and always will be, a cherished wife, a beloved mother, a nurturing Meemaw, and an adored friend.Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock this afternoon until seven o'clock this evening, Wednesday, the 14th of December, in the parlor and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.A memorial service and celebration of her life is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Thursday, the 15th of December, in the Hankamer Chapel of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive in Houston, where John Barksdale and George Thompson are to officiate.Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the nearby Deacons Parlor. At a quarter to one o'clock that afternoon, for those wishing to attend, the escorted funeral cortège will depart Second Baptist for Houston National Cemetery, where a brief interment service is to be held at a quarter to two o'clock in the afternoon. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in her name be directed to Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive, Houston, TX, 77057."Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on thine own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6
You can to the family or in memory of Polly Carlton.
