Phyllis Joan Shanklin LUBBOCK-Phyllis Joan Shanklin, 85, of Lubbock passed away on Monday, Dec. 5, 2016. Mrs. Shanklin was born on June 20, 1931, in Frankfort, IN, to the late Glenn and Ruby (Neece) VanTyle. She married Jack Shanklin on Nov. 7, 1951, in Frankfort, IN. Mrs. Shanklin was an executive secretary for Equitable Life Insurance for many years. She was a very avid athlete, as she won the Lubbock City and Club Tennis Championship, shot a great game of golf, and could out run most in her high school days. Phyllis was also a very wonderful cook. Most of all Mrs. Shanklin loved, and put her family first. She is preceded in death by her parents. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Jack; two daughters, Kathy and husband, David, and Karen and husband, David. She was also blessed with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Phyllis also leaves behind one brother, Donald VanTyle; and three sisters, Janice Elliott, Julia Healey, and Vicky Woods. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
