Phyllis DeMent Holzschuher ZANESVILLE: Phyllis DeMent Holzschuher, 89, of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 5:20 am, on Sunday December 15th, 2013 at Haven Hospice, in Chiefland, Florida, after suffering a massive stroke. Phyllis was born on May 31, 1924 in Dresden, Ohio to the late Earl and Bessie Fulton. Phyllis was a lovely homemaker and was also employed by Hopper's Dairy, LePere Pottery, Steer Inn, and Maysville Schools. Phyllis's passion was her grandson and great grandson, and while in Florida her passion was to fish with her step-children. Phyllis was a wonderful cook, loved to garden and loved her cats along with her special Grand Dog, Daisy. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Charles R. Holzschuher of 27 years; her grandson, Jesse Deane DeMent; great-grandson, Jase Gabriel DeMent; daughter-in-law, Kim Gabriel DeMent; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia and Robert Payne; brother-in-law, Wayne Englehart; sister-in-law, Wilma Fulton; nephew, Jeff Englehart and Dan Fulton; nieces, Kris Payne Hawk, Eleanor Ingram, Kay Denbow, Margie Fitz and Phyllis Newsom; great-nephew, Shane DeMent; special cousin, Donna DeMent; and many other great-nieces, nephews and cousins. Phyllis is also survived by her step-children in Florida and Georgia: four sons and two daughters-in-law, a daughter and son-in-law; ten grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her first husband, Deane F. DeMent, to whom she was married for 37 years; her son J. Mark DeMent; her brother, Don Fulton; her sister, Ruth Englehart; and her niece, Sherree DeMent. A Memorial Service will be held in Zanesville, Ohio at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 11, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. for family and friends. Her ashes will be laid to rest by her first husband Deane F. DeMent at St. Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Shelter Society, 1430 Newark Road.
