Phyllis C. Smith, 89Hartford City - Phyllis C. Smith, 89, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN.She was born on May 30, 1928 to Everett Butler and Naomi Ruth (Ferguson) Butler. Both parents preceded her in death.Phyllis married William "Bill" Sherman Smith on June 22, 1946 in Marion. He precedes her in death on February 20, 2008.She was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Blackford County Hospital Auxiliary and a former member of Order of Eastern Star.Phyllis was an avid reader, enjoyed arts and crafts and ceramics. She and her husband, Bill restored and collected International Tractors.She will be sadly missed by her sons, Larry J. (wife, Linda) Smith of Talladega, AL; Terry L. (wife, Linda) Smith of Hartford City; daughter, Cindy K. (husband, Mike) Smith-Newsome of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, William Smith, Tracie Smith, Tim Smith, Chris Smith, Aaron Smith, Shane Smith, Todd Smith, Shawn Smith, William Newsome and J.P. Newsome; 22 great-grandchildren plus one on the way; brother, Robert (wife, Betty) Butler of Marion; several nieces and nephews.She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Lavena Ruth Smith and brother, William Butler.Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City with Pastor Gary Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Riverside Cemetery Association in Gas City.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Keplinger Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 312 W.
