NORTHFORD - Philip F. DeSorbo, Sr., of Northford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, one day after his 78th birthday at Twin Maples Healthcare.He was born on Nov. 26, 1938, in New Haven; son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Scalisse)DeSorbo.Philip is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Maria(Romano)DeSorbo, who devoted herself to taking care of him during his illness. Phil was an avid cyclist, and enjoyed going to UConn and Central Connecticut State University football and basketball games with his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Philip Jr., and Dina, of Branford; and also by his daughter and son-in-law, Dina and Billy McMahon, of Sudbury, Mass; "Papa D" also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Sofia and Isabella DeSorbo, and Ava and Liam McMahon; brother of Joseph DeSorbo, of North Branford, and Vivian (Anthony) Santilli, of North Haven. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Joann DeSorbo. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews; cousins; and lifelong friends. We will forever be grateful for the time we got to spend with Philip and will cherish all of our happy memories. Nothing was more important to him than being with his family.His funeral procession left the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Thursday, Dec. 1.
