Petronella (Ellen) JonesABILENE, TXPetronella (Ellen) Jones peacefully passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at her home in Abilene, Texas, while holding her husband's hand. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM in North's Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 19, 2016 in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating, under the direction of North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St. She was born on June 20, 1964 in The Hague, Netherlands to Wilhelmus and Anje (Holjer) Ploeg. Ellen immigrated to the United States with her family when she was four years old and was raised in Detroit, Michigan where she worked at her family's bakery with her parents and four siblings. In 1985, Ellen moved to Holland, Michigan where she raised her two kids, John and Kristie. Ellen graduated from Muskegon Community College in 1997 with a degree in nursing and proudly served as an ER and ICU RN. In October, of 2014 Ellen moved to Abilene, TX and married Kelly Jones. Ellen loved spending time with her family sharing memories, cuddling with her German Shepherd Rommel, and watching hockey. She is preceded in death by her father, Wilhelmus Ploeg. She is survived by her husband Kelly Jones, son John and wife Marnee Heppner, daughter Kristie Heppner and husband Michael DiBartolo, Mother Anjie Ploeg, Brothers Adrian and wife Debbie Ploeg, Bill and wife Mindy Ploeg, Mitch and wife Hien Ploeg. Sister Elizabeth and husband Craig Reenders, her grandchildren Alexys and Carson Heppner and numerous nieces and nephews.
