Johnson Jr, age 86, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Arborwood Lodge.Memorial services for Paul will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday March 6, 2017 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Father Jim Altman will officiate the service. The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday at the church from 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. Entombment will follow the service at Forest Hill Mausoleum. Paul was born on April 14, 1930 in Biron, WI to the late Paul L. and Pearl G (Brewster) Johnson. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids and married Verna Mae Leege on October 7, 1950 at S.S. Peter and Paul in Wisconsin Rapids. Paul worked as a machine tender on the #4 paper machine for Consolidated Papers for 42 years, retiring on July 31, 1992. Paul was actively involved in the Village of Biron and served on the Biron Village Board, Biron Fire Department, Biron Credit Union Board and was a Union Steward for UPIU 187. He was an avid musky fisherman and belonged to the Consolidated and Bill's Musky Clubs. Paul also helped to stock muskies in local lakes and rivers as a member of the 12 Apostles Musky Club. Paul is survived by his ten children: Sons, Charles Patrick (Jenny) Johnson of Gillette, WY, Michael (Diane) Johnson of Mosinee, WI, Mark (Melani) Johnson of Nekoosa, WI, Kris (Rose) Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids, Peter (Carlin) Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids and Greg (Deanna) Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids; Daughters, Paula (Mike) Klegin of Greenville, WI, Colleen (Jerry) Klonowski of Wisconsin Rapids, Joni Johnson-Cherney of Stevens Point, WI. and Jeni Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Wayne Johnson of Nekoosa, WI and sister Judy (Larry) Stelzer of Wisconsin Rapids; sister-in-law Lorraine Johnson, brothers-in-law Doug Bufton, Ed (Kathy) Leege, Tim (Kay) Leege and many nieces and nephews. Paul is preceded in death by his beloved wife Verna, parents Paul and Pearl, brother Arlyn, sister and brother-in-law Ardis (Kenny) Kohnen, sisters-in-law Gerry Johnson, Joan Bufton and brother-in-law Terry Leege. A memorial will be established in Paul's name at a later date.Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family with arrangements.
