RUSSIA — Paul Cordonnier, age 87, of Russia, Ohio died on Nov. 16, 2016, at his home in Russia.
He was born on Jan. 30, 1929, in Russia, Ohio, to the late August and Freda (Barhorst) Cordonnier. He married Rosemary Glynn on July 12, 1949, in at St. Remy Church, Russia, Ohio, and she survives in Russia.
He is also survived by children, Ed and Linda Cordonnier, Celina, Kay and Ron Borchers, Russia, Don and Barb Cordonnier, Russia, and Sandy and Heinz Finkes, Piqua; 12 grandchildren, Casey and Stephanie Cordonnier, Bryon and Araceli Cordonnier, Nick and Lisa Borchers, Kelly and Tim Norris, Keith Borchers, Jay Borchers, Tonya and Roger Hammonds, Spencer and Amber Cordonnier, Abby and Marcus Bixler, Matt and Merideth Finkes and Angie Finkes; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jim and Doris Cordonnier, Minster, Rachelle Cordonnier, Piqua, August Jr. and Barb Cordonnier, Russia, Bill and Sue Cordonnier, Cardiff, California, Carol and Amos Johns, Piqua; and in-laws Ken Schwartz, Connie Cordonnier, Julia Billenstein.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sister, Tom and Mary Cordonnier, Marie Schwartz, Ken Cordonnier, and in-laws, Kathryn and Irvin Monnin, Joe and Helen Glynn, Naomi "Toots" and Paul Benanzer, Bob and Hilda Glynn, Janet and Cletus Schmiesing and Bob Billenstein.
Paul retired from Francis Manufacturing after 35 years of service. He was a 1947 graduate of Russia High School.
He was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, Grand Knight of the K of C, Russia Usher with church, former member of Russia Fire Department, Russia girls and boys golf coach. He was an avid sports fan of the Russia Raiders, Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, OSU Buckeyes, and coached numerous youth sports teams. Many will miss seeing Paul sitting on his porch watching the Reds.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, Ohio, with the Rev. Martin Fox celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Remy Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21.
