HANKIN Paul A. Hankin was born on September 12, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA. He passed away peacefully on November 23, 2016, in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 78. His parents, Edward K. Hankin and Ida S. Hankin, moved to Tallahassee, FL where Paul and his younger brother John were raised and went to school. Paul graduated from Leon High School in 1957 and joined the
Army Reserves. He married his high school sweetheart Marguerite (Mardie) Head that same year. After moving to Gainesville, FL, Paul began working for Southern Bell where he retired in 1990. Paul served his country as a Special Forces Green Beret in the 82nd Airborne and had 25 parachute jumps during his enlistment. Paul enjoyed a variety of hobbies with his family in the early years of his life including canoeing, sailing, hiking, camping, and fishing. He served as Scoutmaster in Boy Scout Troop 202 in Gainesville. After retirement from BellSouth he continued to serve the community as a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, as a Boy Scout leader in Jacksonville, and as a member of the Fred H. Brown, All-Airborne Chapter, 82nd Airborne Division Association. Serving those that served in our military was very important to him. Paul is survived by his son Karl Hankin, brother John Hankin, grandsons Charles Hankin, Michael Hankin, and Dylan Hankin, great-grandson Lucas Hankin, and his first wife Mardie Hankin. To honor his wishes there will be no memorial service, although family may schedule a reception in the future. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to a .
