Patti Illes of Oscoda, dear wife of Jerry, passed away on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas City after a short illness. She was born on July 20, 1951, in Detroit to Jack and Laura Holmes­ and was raised with her sister, Lauren (Rick) Myers, Oscoda, and her brother, Jack (Sandy) Holmes of Livonia. Those who knew Patti valued her friendship and appreciated her kindness, her humor, her patience, her potato salad and her extraordinary gift for creating quilts. With her persistence, she won her five-year battle with leukemia. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her Van Etten Lake Park "family." In addition to Jerry, her husband of 22 years, Patti is survived by her daughter, Cindy (John) Kraly, and grandchildren, Morgan and Nathan, all of Canton; as well as by her extended family of four step-children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of Patti's life will be held in the spring of 2010 in Oscoda.
