Patsy Baxter Fox1946-2015Patsy Baxter Fox, "Tootsie," went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, the 29th of October 2015, after a courageous three year battle with cancer.Patsy was born on the 13th of November 1946 in the Panhandle town of Lockney Texas, where she grew up on the family farm, and in High School she was elected Head Cheerleader, Homecoming Queen and Most Beautiful. She graduated from West Texas State University, where she met, fell in love with and married Wayne Fox. They would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary later this month. After college the newlyweds packed their bags and commenced their life adventure, moving to Houston for Wayne to start law school. Wayne and Patsy remained in Houston for the entirety of their marriage. They were blessed with three children, a daughter, Lori Del Fox, who tragically died soon after her birth, daughter, Amanda K. Fox, and son, William C. Fox.Patsy loved life, travel, adventure, seeking out new and exciting places, and never tired of searching for that special antique table or unique piece of furniture. She would talk at length to anyone she captured about her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, her kids and grandkids, and politics; all of which she embraced with a zeal that only she could exhibit. Patsy loved a cold beer and a hamburger just as well as the finest Bordeaux and rack of lamb, but her greatest joy came from pampering and spoiling her grandchildren.Patsy volunteered for countless civic organizations, including River Oaks Garden Club, Bo's Place, Freedom Place, and St. John the Divine Episcopal Church. She served on the Founding Board of the Hospice at the Texas Medical Center, which was the predecessor of Houston Hospice. After Patsy was diagnosed, Wayne and the entire family surprised her by constructing a small prayer chapel on the family ranch in Fayette County. The chapel was dedicated on Thanksgiving Day 2014, and named "NEAR TO THE HEART OF GOD CHAPEL." She and Wayne spent many special times in the Chapel reflecting on the blessings of their years together.Patsy was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Lori Del Fox; her sister, Floy Baxter Lancaster; her father and mother, Bascom and Jennie Baxter; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Mary Elizabeth Fox. She is survived by her husband, Wayne C. Fox; daughter, Amanda K. Fox; son, William C. Fox and wife Lindsay Arnoult Fox; granchildren, Ella Mitchell Fox, William C. Fox, Jr., and Annie Blake Fox; her sister, Eleane Wimberley and husband Lonell; brother, Victor Baxter and wife Becca; brother-in-law, Gene Lancaster; sister-in- law and brother-in-law, Nancy and Tom Mobley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Monday, the 2nd of November at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 2450 River Oaks Blvd., followed by a reception at River Oaks Country Club, 1600 River Oaks Blvd. The family would like to extend their special thanks to Dr. Diane Bodurka and her assistant Shiney at MD Anderson and to the staff of the Houston Hospice, especially Svanhaniel Crim.In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital; or to the .
