Patrick Amos McCarthy"Uncle Patty and Possum" - Oakfield, TNPatrick Amos McCarthy, loving brother of Patricia Freshour of Oakfield, went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2016.He was born on December 29, 1941 in San Francisco, CA to the late Patrick Paul McCarthy and Lettie Mae Sparks McCarthy. He was a U.S. Marine that served in Vietnam. He is survived by his loving sister, Patricia Freshour of Oakfield; several nieces whom he helped raise, Sandra Thurman, Denise Thurman, Rhonda Mainord-Flowers, Sheri Riddell-Adams (Tim), and Pamela Horne all of Jackson; nephews he helped raise, Dennis Thurman of New Kensington, PA and David Thurman (Phyllis) of Maui, HI; fifteen great nieces and nephews, and nine great great nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, December 28, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 1 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel with burial to follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.Active pallbearers to serve will be Eddie Hamilton, Ray Riddell, Patrick Stephens, Robert Bolton, Trey Mainord, and Trevor Flowers.George A.
