Patricia Ann (Turney) Thomson passed away quietly and peacefully on April 7, 2016 at the age of 82. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, David Browning Thomson and by her brother Bill Turney and sister Genevieve Ratcliff. She is survived by her three children and their spouses; Debra and John Beeson of Santa Fe, N.M., Barbara and Keith Emery of Phoenixville , Pa., and David and Audrey Thomson of Loveland, Colo. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, one great grandchild; and four sisters: Bennie Hahn, Barbara Robbins, Julia Lamance, and Carolyn Turney. Ann was born on December 11, 1933, the sixth of seven children, to Theodore and Florence Turney. She grew up in the small farming community of Weldon Texas. Ann graduated from high school at the age of 16, and moved to the big city of Fort Worth Texas where she lived with her sister Genevieve and her husband Ben. Ann attended classes at Texas Wesleyan College, helped her sister with the housework and worked in her brother-in-law's print shop. After three years, Ann moved to the then closed city of Los Alamos. Ann married her husband David B Thomson in December of 1953, and the two of them lived together in Los Alamos until his death in 2012. For 24 years Ann worked in the front office of the United Church of Los Alamos, through the tenures of four pastors. In addition to being an administrative and compassionate resource for the church; she was one of the first Stephen Ministers, was active in the Women's Service Society, and served on the LIFT committee for many years.Ann was a loving mother and grandmother, and a devoted wife who cared deeply for her family, friends, church, and community. She had boundless energy and a generous heart. She supported her husband in his work and his political and community service. As a couple they enjoyed many evenings of big band music, dancing and bridge. She encouraged her children's diverse interests with both practical and emotional support taking pleasure in their accomplishments. Her grandchildren were a priority to her so she traveled coast to coast to visit and keep up with them, attending through the years countless recitals, concerts, soccer games and other important events. She will be remembered as a woman of wisdom, strength and compassion.A Celebration of her life will take place at 3:00 p.m. on April 16th at the United Church of Los Alamos located at 2525 Canyon Road in Los Alamos.
