Palmer Earl (Nick) Burris, Jr., of Sammamish, WA, died on June 7, 2011. He was 79 years of age. Mr. Burris was born on June 19, 1932 in Bandon, Oregon, the son of Palmer and Velena Burris. He was raised in Yakima and Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen High School. He also attended and graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Burris served with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After a long, 27 year career with The Boeing Company, Mr. Burris retired to fulfill his lifetime dream, to own a hay farm in Ellensburg, WA. He was a charter member of Sahalee Country Club, who in addition to enjoying the game of golf, enjoyed fly-fishing, skiing and spending summers at the farm. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Shirley; their three sons and spouses Stephen and Rhonda of Ellensburg, WA; Michael and Michelle of Sammamish, WA; Daniel and Amparo of Vero Beach, Florida; and eight grandchildren. No service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Kittitas County Search & Rescue (P.O. Box 1494, Ellensburg, WA, 98926) or to a charity of your choice.
