Otelia EvensonOtelia Evenson, age 104, of Garretson, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the Palisade Healthcare Community in Garretson. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, rural Garretson. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Wednesday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.Otelia was born on August 19, 1913, at Garretson, South Dakota, to Ludvig and Gina (Sandvig) Froseth. She married Leo Evenson on October 23, 1933. They lived on and farmed the Evenson Homestead for 40 years before moving into Garretson in 1973. Otelia and Leo enjoyed spending the winter months in Alamo, Texas, fishing, bowling, and playing cards. Leo passed away on September 17, 1994. Otelia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson, and Garretson Senior Citizens.Otelia is survived by a cousin, Lillian; several nieces and nephews; and her special friend and caregiver, Judy Hanson of Garretson.
